Anyone who thinks a closed door will keep thieves away from you and your stuff needs to watch this crook in action.
Living in the Dallas-Fort Worth region of Texas – one of the highest populated cities in the country with approximately 6.8 million residents, according to 2011 data from the Texas Department of State Health Services – there are countless people lurking about the streets and driving along roadways. In Addison, Texas, located in the North Dallas corridor, one lurker was caught on video creeping into an office stealing from an employee.
Rosanne Regenscheid stepped away from the reception area of her hair restoration office, but left her purse unattended at the desk. Within those minutes away, an unidentified man was caught on surveillance video rifling through Regenscheid’s belongings and walking out of the office.
It wasn’t until six hours later that Regenscheid noticed her wallet and mobile phone were missing. Regenscheid said in news reports that the creeper spent more than $1,000 immediately after leaving the office at a gas station, drug store and two grocery stores.
The surveillance video caught clear images of the creeper and police are hoping those images will lead to an arrest. In the meantime, police urge anyone working in easily accessible office buildings to be mindful of their belongings because thieves thrive on the anonymity of office complexes.
The creeper is still on the loose, so police are asking for anyone who recognizes the man in the video below to contact Addison police. And, if you are not in Texas, think twice before you walk away from your unattended desk.
